Bringing together artisans, performers and athletes from Mông communities across 11 provinces, the three-day festival will transform Điện Biên into a lively cultural meeting point. Visitors can expect a fascinating mix of traditional performances, handicrafts, local cuisine, folk games and sporting activities.
One of the festival’s most distinctive experiences will be the khèn, the traditional Mông panpipe. The instrument plays an important role in Mông cultural life, and visitors will have opportunities to enjoy khèn performances while learning more about the traditions and stories behind this unique musical heritage.

Beyond the performances, the festival will create dedicated cultural spaces where visitors can discover traditional crafts, watch artisans demonstrate their skills, taste local specialties and take part in hands-on cultural activities.
A major highlight will be the street carnival on the evening of October 10, featuring a spectacular mass khèn performance at 8pm. Around 3,000 participants and three artistic floats are expected to fill the streets with music, movement and the colorful atmosphere of Mông culture.
Experience Mông Life at a Cultural Tourism Village

For travelers looking for a more immersive experience, the Mông Ethnic Cultural Tourism Village in Bản Lồng, Quài Tở Commune will offer an opportunity to discover local life beyond the festival stage.
Visitors can explore a traditional market, join cultural exchanges and folk games, discover community-based tourism experiences, browse local One Commune One Product (OCOP) products and sample regional cuisine.

Rather than simply watching cultural performances, travelers will have the chance to interact with local residents and experience elements of everyday Mông life firsthand. From traditional music and handicrafts to food and community activities, the village provides a closer look at the cultural identity of one of Vietnam’s northern highland communities.
A Celebration of Living Heritage

The Mông Ethnic Culture Festival is more than a cultural showcase. It also provides a meeting place for Mông people from different provinces to exchange experiences, strengthen cultural connections and share traditional knowledge.

For international travelers, the festival offers a unique opportunity to discover Vietnam’s ethnic diversity through authentic cultural experiences, while exploring the landscapes and hospitality of Điện Biên.
The opening and closing ceremonies will be held at May 7th Square in Điện Biên Ward, with cultural activities taking place throughout the festival.

If you are planning a trip to Vietnam in October, Điện Biên offers an opportunity to step beyond the country’s familiar destinations and discover the music, flavors, crafts and living traditions of the northern mountains. 🏔️🎶🌿
